John Gravlin: A tribute to Dan Fogelberg

John Gravlin describes himself as:  “just a singer that grew up in a singing family”.  Father and Mother were both blessed with excellent singing voices and 2 sisters have professional recordings.  Playing guitar and singing were always favorite hobbies that have blossomed into more since moving to Cheboygan and joining the local music scene.  Performing music has become a bigger part of my life thanks to the encouragement of many local musicians and John and Marcella and the Lark production manager Mark Jones.  Learning to play the guitar in the 1970’s led me to the great singer songwriters of the era, but the connection that I developed with the music of Dan Fogelberg was instantaneous and complete.  Maybe it was the shared Midwestern roots or the Travis-picking style that Fogelberg employed in his music, but with each succeeding album the admiration grew.  My hope is that this performance at The Lark will showcase some of Fogelberg’s best guitar songs.  Dan Fogelberg was lost too soon but his music lives on.
